Students will be notified of scheduling opportunities no later than February 1st of each school year. The benefits of taking these courses are immense. Students are exposed to advanced and college-level curriculum; however, they still have the resources of their high school teachers. Academic support is available through daily lessons, access to Google Classroom, and Extra Help after school. In May, your child will have the opportunity to take the corresponding AP exam(s), if applicable, and if your child passes the exam(s), they will have an opportunity to earn college credit, depending upon the college or university they choose to attend. Courses that are aligned to local colleges and universities, upon successful completion of the course, students are eligible to receive those credits on an official college transcript. In order to enroll in these classes, students must meet certain prerequisites as defined by the corresponding academic department. These requirements can be found in the high school’s Course Guide. If you have any questions relating to the enrollment process associated with advanced courses, please see your child’s school counselor or call 631-376-7190.
